Covidien Launches Kendall™ Skin Wellness System

MANSFIELD, MA, August, 2011 – Covidien has launched the Kendall Skin Wellness System --a complete line of barrier creams, lotions and cleansers. This comprehensive portfolio of seven formulas for skin cleansing, moisturizing, protection and treatment help restore the skin to its natural, healthy state.

“With increased focus by healthcare facilities on reducing adverse events, healthy skin provides an important first layer of defense,” said Kristin Dietzler, General Manager for Nursing Care at Covidien. “In addition to promoting general skin wellness, this system reduces the likelihood of acquired conditions such as pressure ulcers, skin tears, contact dermatitis and secondary infections. Many of these conditions are commonly associated with the skin damage caused by incontinence, making the skin wellness system a perfect pairing with our complete line of incontinence products and advanced wound care.”

Moisture balance is essential to skin health and skin that is excessively wet or dry is particularly susceptible to injury and infection. The Kendall Skin Wellness System contains active pharmaceutical ingredients and jojoba --a natural plant oil commonly used in cosmetics. Jojoba oil is easily absorbed by the skin and helps replace moisture when the skin’s natural oils have been diminished.

The Skin Wellness System was presented at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) in Dallas April 14t-17, 2011 and at the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) annual conference in New Orleans, June 4-8, 2011.
