WOCNCB, VA, and Department of Defense Continue Certification Relationship

WOCNCB credentials again recommended for a Department of Veterans Affairs’ national certification program

Milwaukee, WI July 15, 2011 - The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) proudly announces that its wound, ostomy, continence and foot care credentials have again been approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) for inclusion in their “Let’s Get Certified” Campaign.

“The WOCNCB was honored when invited to participate in the “Let’s Get Certified” Campaign and to support the commitment of these nurse specialists to serve our military, veterans, armed forces and their family members and survivors,” says Diana Gallagher, MS, RN, CWOCN, CFCN, CHT, and president of WOCNCB. “As we enter Phase IV of this campaign, we are even more honored to have “joined the ranks” with our VA and Department of Defense (DoD) partners to promote the highest standard of patient safety and care through certification. Our troops and veterans deserve nothing less than the best.”

To recognize the efforts of the “Let’s Get Certified” Campaign, the WOCNCB is offering a 30% exam fee discount. More information is available at www.wocncb.org/VADOD.

The “Let’s Get Certified” Campaign began in June, 2008 as a way to promote, support, reward and recognize specialty nursing certification. The campaign is sponsored by the DVA’s Office of Nursing Services. Registered Nurses employed by the DVA or the Department of Defense (Army, Navy, Air Force and U.S. Public Health Corps) are eligible to participate.
