Bacterial or Fungal Infection

Bacterial or fungal infection is the invasion of the skin by a pathogenic organism. Fungal infection is characterized by a skin rash that is fiery red, itches, and burns. Treatment includes the application of an antifungal cream or powder to the skin two or three times daily after washing with an incontinence cleanser. Bacterial infection is often indicated by reddened skin with a swollen or streaky appearance and the presence of pus in the wound. Cleansers and ointments with antibacterial/antimicrobial properties can be applied to fight the infection.
